PROFESSIONAL PRACTICES [INDUSTRY ROLES]

When we say art is subjective, we really mean beauty is subjective. We pick and choose what the canvas could be and where the art lies. A paintbrush could be whatever we decide it to be. Mother is an artist. She just made her most beautiful piece: Jennifer.
I’m working on mine now. I stabbed the paintbrush into the canvas body and drew deep scarlet strokes. A little art of embroidery here. I picked up the sewing needle and dug into the art. Crimson paint ran through my fingers and under my nails. We’ll clean that later. I picked up the paint brush again and stabbed it right in the chest. This was my most beautiful piece: Dad.
Mother and I stood back admiring our collaboration. A beautiful piece. Art is subjective, and it is up to the artist to decide whether the piece is aesthetically pleasing. Mother and I could agree that the art was immaculate- Dad and Jennifer? Maybe not so much. But they won’t get to see it. The sculpture lay still in the flashing red blue lights. My mom and I can be happy now. Fuck you and Jennifer.
